Discover the world of Kundalini yoga

Imagine a quiet space where you can work with your inner energy to get to a place of calmness within, to reach an internal awakening. Also called the yoga of awareness, Kundalini yoga combines movement, breathwork and meditation to tap into your body’s energy and unlock a world of mental clarity.

Instead of crazy weird positions, like standing on your head, Kundalini involves movement by using the power of energy combined with breath to create a deep sense of vitality. It’s like a workout for your nervous system and your mind, helping with a variety of issues like anxiety and depression.

What is Kundalini yoga

It is a blend of movement called kriyas, breathwork called pranayama, chanting and meditation. Each session is uniquely combined to reach a certain goal for that class by moving energy through the body, strengthening the nervous system and creating mental balance. The great thing about Kundalini yoga is that you don’t have to be flexible or experienced to start with the class.

A typical class starts with a short mantra to get focused, followed by some breathwork and kriyas, relaxation, and meditation. It is an amazing experience and may feel unusual at first but you will definitely feel the difference within.

Benefits of Kundalini yoga

There are many benefits of doing Kundalini yoga and you will quickly feel its effects like the immediate sense of energy, balance and focus. Here’s what makes it so powerful:

1.      Boosts energy and vitality: The combination of breathwork and movement wakes up the body’s energy systems, leaving you feeling refreshed instead of drained after a session.

2.      Strengthens the nervous system: Many of the kriyas are designed to push past our mental and physical limits which trains the nervous system to handle stress better in our daily lives.

3.      Enhances mental clarity and focus: Controlling the breath and chanting help to clear the mental fog and sharpen our concentration.

4.      Supports emotional balance: The practice of Kundalini encourages emotional release and helps you to feel more centred and calmer.

5.      Promotes deep relaxation – The last phase of a Kundalini class helps the body to absorb the benefits, which leads to a deep sense of peace.
